To Whisper a Kiss
At first glance, Ryan Kaplar appears to be Glasgow, Kentucky’s most endearing native son. Handsome, strong and tall in stature, at one time he was the object of every woman’s affection. That was until they approached him. While most physically appealing, he is equally awkward upon confrontation. Damaged from his hostile past, Ryan now finds solace in his work as a butcher. Here he can keep to himself and escape using two methods he learned long ago to silence the gallery, Elvis Presley and the art of slaughtering.
Special Agent Tom O’Conner has been with the FBI now for over seventeen years. He began working for the bureau in 1965 after graduating with a B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University. Dating back to his youth, he has always been fascinated with criminology, while eventually sealing his stamp after serving two years in the Army as an MP at Fort Leonard Wood. After brief stints in California and Arizona, Tom and his wife, Barbara, moved back to Virginia in 1972, so he could train at the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. Eventually he was transferred to the field office in Nashville, and now Tom spends his time all over the country hunting serial killers.
Lately Tom hasn’t been himself. He has put everything into his work and in the process lost sight of what is most important to him. Now his only hope of recapturing the thing he loves most of all, more than his job, more than his own life, is to catch the monster known by the media as The Manikin Man of Nashville. Tom is all too aware that his time is running out. If he doesn’t put the pieces of his broken life – and this case – back together soon then more woman will continue to disappear without a trace.
Chris Tidwell is a brash young agent, brand spanking new to the Bureau, a good-looking, dark-haired, twenty-eight year-old die hard country boy from Salem, Arkansas who recently graduated with honors from John Jay College–then breezed through the FBI Academy in Quantico. He had a brief stay at the field office in Virginia before being transferred to Nashville for his first real case.
